Hiking enthusiasts enjoy all kinds of outdoor activities, and many of
these activities share much in common with hiking. For example, many
of the trails used by hikers are shared with horses and maintain
bikes. Hiking trails in summer sometimes become trails for cross
country skiing in winter, and what are ski slopes in winter are
available for climbig and hiking in summer. Some treks combine
elements of multiple activiities, for example, one of my favorite
hikes on Kauai started with a three mile Kayak trip, followed by a
hike to a waterfall. Especially long hikes require camping on the
